Never a clean bill of health

No matching record does not mean a boat has never capsized, flooded, been stolen, been repaired or been written off. It may mean the data is not available or uses a different identifier.

Name matching is not identity matching

Published investigation titles can mention multiple boats. Common names, former names and similar models create ambiguity. Confirm a match with the report’s vessel details before drawing conclusions.

MAIB incident data

The imported occurrence tables do not contain vessel names or HINs. They are used for aggregate incident browsing, not to attach claims to a particular boat. Months are not exact incident dates.

Independent checks still matter

Inspect the hull plate and original documentation, ask for ownership and repair records, verify finance and commission a qualified independent marine survey.
